The business and the problem

Nord Parfums sells authentic niche fragrances from houses like Amouage, Creed and Byredo, as sealed bottles and as hand-decanted samples. Prices run from a few dollars for a sample to a few hundred for a full bottle.

That range is the hard part. The store has to work for someone buying a $5 sample to test a scent and for someone spending hundreds on a bottle they already know. Both need to trust the store is legitimate, and both need to find the right fragrance fast.

What Rocks Media built

Rocks Media designed Nord Parfums' Shopify store around how fragrance buyers actually shop.

• Collections by season (winter, spring, summer, fall) and by brand
• Best sellers collection on the homepage
• Product pages with bottle and sample options
• Search, cart and customer accounts
• Customer reviews and a request-a-fragrance form

Fragrance buyers shop by mood and season as much as by brand, so the navigation offers both. Samples sit right next to full bottles, which lowers the risk of a first order. Built on Shopify, the owner manages products, orders and payments without a developer.

Design decisions

Niche fragrance is a trust purchase. Buyers want to know the bottles are authentic before they spend hundreds, so the store has a Reviews page in the main navigation and product pages that are clear about what you're getting, whether that's a sealed bottle or a decant.

A free shipping threshold runs across the top of every page to nudge order size, and New Arrivals keeps regulars coming back. The Request a Fragrance form turns a missing product into a lead instead of a lost sale.

The brand menu lists the houses shoppers search for by name, like Amouage, Creed and Byredo, so someone who already knows what they like gets there in one click. The seasonal collections do the opposite job: they help someone who doesn't know where to start find a scent that suits the time of year.
