The business and the problem
Clockwork Auto is a dealer-to-dealer vehicle auction based on Eastern Avenue in Brampton. It wanted its own online platform where only licensed Ontario dealers could buy and sell, with rules that match how Ontario dealers actually work.
That meant this could not be a normal business website. It needed accounts, an approval step, listings with legal disclosures, real-time bidding that stays fair in the last seconds, and secure payments. A template or page builder can't do any of that.
What Rocks Media built
Rocks Media designed and built a full web application for Clockwork, from the public landing page to the logged-in auction floor.
- Dealer registration limited to OMVIC-registered Ontario dealers, with account approval
- Vehicle listings with the required OMVIC disclosures and a reserve price
- Live auctions with real-time bidding
- 30-second sniping protection so late bids extend the clock instead of stealing the car
- Stripe-secured payments and flat, tiered fees shown upfront
- Browse Auctions, Register, Log In and Contact pages, plus an admin area
The public side sells the idea fast: the headline, how it works and why dealers should switch. The logged-in side is built for speed, because a bidding screen that lags loses people money. Compliance is built into the listing form itself, so a dealer can't publish a car without the disclosures Ontario requires.
Design decisions
Dealers are busy and sceptical of new platforms, so the public pages answer the practical questions first: who can join, how approval works (accounts are reviewed within 24 hours), what it costs and how payment happens. Fees are flat and tiered and shown upfront, not a percentage of the sale, which is a selling point on its own.
The black, white and gold look with bold condensed headlines is deliberate. It feels closer to a trading floor than a used car ad, which matches the audience: licensed dealers moving stock, not the public shopping for a family car.
